Different from previous years, customized furniture also attract some furnishing people. Customized furniture, just as its name implies to make some furnishings according to different space or customers’ special purpose, which make the furnishing match with other home furnishings inside and outside the room or express more personality. 

    After visiting several furniture enterprises that have experience on customized furnishing, most of the directors said, they just have a try on customized furnishings or just make small quantity; they still do not have a set of production mode for making a lot of such furnishings. In present furniture industry, certain enterprises use present technology, labor force, equipments to make customized furniture while making traditional furnishings. According to some sellers, now furniture enterprises just can receive several orders, if the order is very large, customized furniture will be cheaper than traditional furniture, but if the order is not more than ten sets, the price of each customized furnishing is at least three time of that of traditional furnishing.

However it is not because they do not establish, it is just for they do not have the confidence to do that and just want to change from traditional furniture so as to reduce operation risk. But in the furniture history, customized furniture appear early, and just huge industry effect of traditional furniture covers the concept of customized furniture, only some special customers who want to express their personality in daily life, they just will take the concept of customized furniture.

    In the view of reporter, customized furniture is not just special making, it is a systemic design project, which specially focuses on design, spatial arrangement, craftwork and logistic.

    During the making process, each client’s requirement and spatial arrangement is different, how to meet their requirement and to deliver the goods quickly? That is the problem of producing in large scale. According to Mr. Liu, expert of customized furniture, to resolve above problems, the most important thing is to produce them in large scale and standardization.

    If furniture enterprises allocate special designers and equipments for each client who wants customized furniture, after finishing this set of furnishing, these designers and equipments will be allocated again when making another set of furniture, which will increase the cost of labor force and materials certainly and the enterprises will lose some benefit. It is knew that the enterprises want to resolve above problems first should operate in standardization from design, enhance cooperation, unify design and components as possible as they can, and use the same design result to correspond to different requirement at any moment.

    Reporter knew that the design of modularization in customized furniture bases on definition and organization of module. To divide special product and system, it is not random, but it must meet the following rules: 1. dividing products’ varieties. It is accorded to different varieties, as large as cabinet, bookcase and official desk, as small as drawer and so on. However it must divide with one variety and be confirmed its module; 2. Reproducibility in design and production. The final purpose of design model is to produce in large scale. And this kind of model must be decided by reproducibility, the model is the one appears and used most frequent. 3. Products’ design life. To design with module is to reduce production period, even the enterprises can set up components store, so each accessory can be used when needed according to requirement. However such store must correspond with production quantity, so as not to increase more cost on operation.

    Expert has introduced, the models of customized furniture can be divided into structure model, function model and unit model, plus color model if necessary. All models must have the same standard, series and characteristic in one enterprise for the same production variety.

    On the design concept of customized furniture, first of all we should analyze furnishing’s function using the principle of standardization, and then classify and simplify each function, which is make a conclusion for the similar furnishing, so as to form common model for certain function, such as similar soleplate for drawer, if they have the same model, they can be used in cabinet and bookcase and do not need to change color. And then to design, and the last to form a series. 3. Combining structure design. On the combination of furniture models, they all combine each accessory. However in the practical making, enterprises always some special requirement or special need, they can not find suitable one in being models, for example when making kitchen cabinet, maybe there will be some spaces after integrating the whole one and there is not a suitable model for such space, so the expert says people should re-design model to match it. 

    However when design models, we should make fewer models as possible as we can. Only if model varieties less and less and they can be fully used in different customized furniture, it means the cost is lower and lower and the delivery is faster and faster, moreover on the aspect of making models, one enterprise can save the cost on human resource.
